I commonly use a modfied version of GNU Netcat that I re-coded to allow for Python scripting ( just easier to do common things, this way I can save procedures I commonly use in .py modules which makes it flipping awesome and easy to extend [ it further allows me to use Python's higher-level socket interface along with C's lower-level interface to create decent exploits fast ] ).

Now that, ladies and gentlemen is the TRUE meaning of hacking right there. A true hacker takes a program and "hacks" away, breaking its usual command flow to include extras that weren't in the original design...

That there is the only thing that should ever be called hacking. Cracking is breaking in (associated with networking), hacking is changing the locks (associated with programming).

Why thank you, Psy
It is good to see users like you actually exist on this forum to be honest

EDIT: I can't believe this thread has got to 6 pages in under 24 hrs I think it is the fastest growing debate ever happening here on US.de

When someone gets the correct definition, I go bananas, screaming for people to take notice at the truth. I'm sick uneducated weasels claiming to know how to "hack", when by saying it, they're proving they can't "crack" their way into an egg. Don't get me wrong, we all have slips of the tongue and I can be caught out saying hack instead of crack, but any claim has to be backed up with the information you provide.

I love what you've done with netcat, very inventive.

EDIT: This thread has become popular because guys like us are putting the truth out there. So many more threads with identical titles trail off into fantasy, disarray and flame. I'm glad this one's surging towards truth, not beligerance.

Your use of puns is outrageously funny

And admire your food-for-thought way of speaking, I can tell you are a mature and calm person. I especially love your use of weasels `I'm sick uneducated weasels claiming to know how to "hack"`, it makes me really 'crack' up with laughter

EDIT: beligerance, well that brought back memories of essays from school, I like seeing forums where dicussions like this take place, really exciting to see guys like myself ( probably more knowledgable by the sounds of things ). Normally the only way I can get close to talking about stuff like this is discussing it with my prof's or class mates, but we don;t have much time together so I only get about 4/6 hrs of tech talk a week ( apart from the actual lessons ).

And why 'thank you'? Lol. It would seem you were looking for someone who finally got the idea that we needed it

Certainly not the fastest growing thread here, but considering there are only 3 and a half people somewhat actively posting here, it might just be the highest post-density compared to the amount of people.

I kinda lost you people after the hashes discussion, but I do want to add that, in spite of faster cracking methods and collisions in the more widely used algorithms, those hashes cannot be decoded and thus form a reasonable barrier.

Posted in Jan 2007... So not so secure...

Now you all see that I was right, but Psytechnic gave you proofs that I couldn't give. It's not so secure, as you think.

Have you even read the article? I don't see you were right, you weren't even right so I can't see it either. I knew about collisions and backtracking, nothing really new for me in there. You're disappointing me, oxy, I had expected more from you.

Thanks all, btw, it's wonderful to finally read something here I really can't follow. That's been quite a long time

I feel that I should add to my "not so secure" comment that I was focusing on the fact that collisions did happen, testing the law on its viability as the base standard. As soon as people break it, someone HAS to make a new method. Not because the people want it, but because there's billions in corporate profits at stake and corporate money can literally make the world turn to a new age of technology if they're scared enough to pay for it.

I would have typed that earlier, but I'm still awake and I've been up for close to 40 hours.

@oxytamine, Oh Really? lame

A Hacker is one who preferably has to do with technical skills and enthusiasm to solve problems and overcoming limits. It might sounds easy to become a hacker but its far away from easy (depends on your skills) hacker's are like crackers, but much more advanced.

beat that noob.

You are a obvious dumbass for it is not hard to portforward, get a decent RAT and spread it around the internet. You only need someone stupidly enough to trust the link and download the RAT server...
Crackers just use brute forcers and noticed words to try on the password.

a hacker is a stereotypical person who breaks into computers and computer networks, but really hacker is a person who enjoys learning details of a programming language or system, who also enjoys actually doing the programming rather than just relaxing on the sofa and theorizing about it like you.

Is everyone here dumbasses!? Hackers ARE NOT coders!

The reason I know this is that I go around game hacking forums code my own downloader which redirects to my RAT server and is undetected by AV, but eventualy will detect so I need to recode and post on the forum that I have made a new hack. cookie

Oh my God. Do you know that posting passwords and other information that may lead to the exposure of private information of the person is a federal crime?

Yes, exactly. Nevertheless, it doesn't mean you have to commit a crime to prevent another one.

@Dont be hating:
Lol, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Hackers ARE coders. And did you have to post on a thread like 4/5 months old? Stupidity defined.

You can't be going around distributing RATs either, in order for a RAT to work, it needs to be run in a root/administrator mode, else it wouldn't be able to execute commands. And when in hell's name did a RAT need a SERVER?! Remote Administration Tool, what there sounds like it needs a server? Tell me.

And to capture someone's data over the internet isn't exactly hard either, in a Windows enviroment you can simply open up on port 80 and listen for all the data going through, grabbing banners and packets and piecing them together as it runs.

You aren't a hacker, your just an idiot who thinks they know what they are talking about.
