That's what I meant, I have no place in speaking here anyway, I don't like math much xP

The problem about that is: You can't put a 1 behind an infinite series of zeroes.

Sometimes, I think that most people who post in this thread are complete retards or just stupid immature kids.

0.99999~ doesn't mean 0.99999. It means 0.<an infinite number of 9 here>. Is it SO hard to understand?

0.999999999~ is obviously equal to 0.999999999~
But we just consider it that it is 1.0 because you're not going to write
0.999999999~
in a paper.

But it is still not equal to 1.0

Don't break the template with a huge load of numbers.

man we wrote to u at least 3 good proves why o.(9) is equal to 1 and now u say it doesn't?

then why do u even post before caring to read at least last 6 posts?

Wikipedia wins again, This confusion is because people don't understand the concept of infinity..

0.99999 = 0.99999 √
0.99999... = 1 ,

I know because, I didnt beleive this untill last year But once you really understand what infinty is, this is easy..

well no one believes in this until they finished at least grade 9-10 and got mark at least "C". At least in my school our teacher explained to us this concept in year 9

Controversial

0.99999~/*2=1, Taken directly from Ancient Greek Texts, symbols mean differently now, but it would seem as if the Greek had figured it out already

Other solutions use the Golden Ratio and Fractions, most of them have already been posted, so i won't be bothering to post my solution

I just came up with the simplest explanation. It's 99.9% wrong, but at least it will paint an image for the peeps here:
1 - 9.999~ = 0.000~, as there is an infinite number of nines, so there must be an infinite number of zeros before the 1 in the end. As we will never reach that one because there is an infinite number of zeros, we will write 0.
