Hello, fellow S2 fans. I've been playing "The Survivalist" for a while now and really enjoy it. It is a nice improvement to "Massive Mod", which was, in turn, a huge improvement to Stranded 2 in my opinion. I'd like to let you know about some kinks/bugs that i've experienced. Some of them i've been able to fix, others make my eyes cross and mind slush.

These I have been able to fix myself:

1. Fertile grain recipe does not find empty bucket.

2. Planting plum trees req Iron hoe instead of steel hoe.

3. When sharpening shovel head, it says "Sharpening axe head".

4. Shark fin soup recipe does not find bottle (from milk). Other soup recipes may be the same way.

5. Recipe for Iron machete does not require iron nails, contradiction the description of the iron machete blade.

6. Goldbow damage is only 3.

These are some exploits I have found that I haven't been able to remedy:

1. Entering and exiting the mine gives health.

2. After it has rained, I have been able to get 20+ refills from water rocks. Other times right after raining, i'll only get one.

3. Planting skill can be raised very quickly by planting grain (or hemp), then immediately harvesting, and planting, ect. You should not be able to get anything until the plant is mature (my opinion).

4. I've found out that any states the player is in can be extended by saving and quitting. Once the save is loaded again, those state timers reset. E.g. I drink healing potion, and let it heal me for a while. Save, quit, reload, and viola; the healing starts over. The same happens with the oil lantern. There may be no way to fix this.

Here are some aspects of the mod that are a little frustrating:

1. The resolution options available under "graphics" are just so...odd. I've been able to input my own resolution into "settings.cfg".

2. Sheep do not seem to breed, and occasionally get "stuck" in one place, even when there is nothing for them to get "stuck" into. When this happens, vine whipping them is ineffective.

3. The auto-hammer is pretty fast, but not automatic as the name implies. What would be really nice is if you could just hold down the right mouse button to build schtufffs.

4. The benefits of fertilized wheat and hemp don't really seem to pay off. You only get one extra wheat or hemp. Not having to water them is nice, but by then usually I already have a water pump anyway. It only takes one or two days for fertilizer to be ready. It has never taken three days.

5. I've found myself at fishing skill 200+ using bait and hooks, and STILL breaking my fly rod very often.

6. Either there is some kind of memory leak, or the mod just gradually uses more and more memory. After playing for half and hour or so, the fps lowers just enough to get really annoying. Ending the process and starting the game back up works for me. Massive Mod had this problem too, though. (BTW, system resources are not lacking on my end.)

Well, that's about all I have so far. I'd like to thank the people working hard on this mod. I have very much enjoyed playing it! Thank you.

Hey there JJ and other peeps. I don't know if this is the right place to post this.

I'm having some kind of problem, maybe memory leak or something. When I use the sprint button the game lags/stutters severely, and when I enter a mine and exit it again the game starts to lag and gets worse every time I exit a mine. When I exit to main menu the lag is still there until I completely exit the game and load my saved game.

Huh.
Try turning down your settings. When your saying "Entering and exiting the mine" your in the right place.
If that doesn't work, try closing out windows in the background to make more of your RAM free
If that doesn't work, i'll look into helping you allocate more RAM to the game.
It really doesn't happen to me, and I got a laptop.


I've tried running the game on the lowest settings, though running it on full does not effect the game's FPS, only when I press the sprint key. As for entering/exiting the mine, I don't think that is supposed to happen at all, regardless of my system specs. See spoiler for the specs.

Well, that is weird...
When i most likely go on my dad's computer, i'll look and see if it's just the OS. Maybe your computers running down.
But, open up your task manager while the game's open (With control+Alt+Delete) and right click the stranded program. Set it's priority higher
Ah jack, you still don't get what i mean with "The Stick"?

Jj, it's look like an ordinary stick. It's just have some sparkle and when we hold it, it works like an infinite light source. And it's description is weird. Also, it can swing real quick. Perfect for mining.

sorry, been looking into your lag when hitting shift and I cannot find an fix. I have not heard anyone else having this problem so I dont have an answer yet...except maybe run the Update Drivers for your video card, and directx. Could be a corrupted or old driver or something.

or right click the TheSurvivalist.exe icon in the main folder and set compatablity mode to XP.

Lastly, try a different keyboard.

So that's the case. Sorry for any confusion, Jj.
I don't see how it will be added in, but since I REALLY want to get into scripting, I'll take a look and see if I can work on it. Hmph, what to use to craft it..?

Nice idea for the Stick BassDrop...

As of late I have been taking a bit of a break that seems to have extended it's self a little longer then planned. Here is an idea of my upcoming work I have planned.

1) Just continue playing this version for about another month and I will post an update fixing any of the above recently found bugs.

Included in this next update will also be some "core" fixes that have to do with compatibility issues when clicking TheSurvivalist.exe to start the mod. Should cover some issues with players who run on windows7/vista operating systems while making the game run "smoother" for the most part for everybody.

Lastly, it would have my lost fixes from my "to-do" list on the top of page one included...new food model(corn) and combos, and fixes. The lost data from my hardrive crash.

2) After posting that update, I will be working on 2-3 "end-game" senarios.

a) You hear a tugboat bellowing it's horn in the distance and you will have to perform a signaling fire/task where you have a "slight" chance of being rescued.

b) Your hear a plane in flying overhead where you also would have to perform a similar task to signal the plane, as you would the tugboat. Also giving you a slight chance of being rescued.

c) You will, at some point in a game, be able to trade with the Trade Pirate for a cell phone. Once a power-source is acquired you would be able to make a call for rescue to be rescued.

note: Any of the 3 scenarios would end your game. Alternatively players who do not wish to strive towards rescue would simply not perform the signal fire or make a cellphone call. The game will keep the element that your game will continue endlessly unless you die, for those you like that aspect. (like me)

3) After 1 & 2 are complete I will monitor the thread for bugs and fixes where I would likely call the mod "completed" at some point when I feel it is bug-free.

So the next update will be about another month. Thank you all for your feedback and I hope you find the mod "fun" and at the same time, challenging. Please continue posting bugs or ideas and enjoy the game and I will be in and out here and report anything significant I come across.

hey guys, im a guy who likes this game like hell & i played assasins creed & almost every game of ubi soft's but this stranded , man got to tell u it rocks & i have been playing it since 5th grade & have played massive mod(the old version) long ago in the same comp but this new version is not working im really annoyed and angry it starts and gets a little glitchy and then the screen just blacks out but the original stranded 2 runs fine pls reply

3)go to the "mods" folder to the "Massive Mod" folder and change the name of that folder to "Stranded ll".

4)then click the Strandedll.exe to start your game.

Your black screen should go away...and i am guessing your running on windows 7/vista? This is part of the "core" fix in the next update I described above.

Report back here and let me know if that fixes your black screen please.

4. Bug, I broke one of my tools, unfortunately forgot which one, and it dropped the tool head and a long handle, but the tool used a short handle.

5. What function does the dock serve that the mobile sailcraft doesn't? Once the fish are depleted off the dock, it's pretty much useless, isn't it? I haven't built one yet.

1) ty, ill keep tweaking things like that as we go.

2)hmmm...idk as i killed a whale yesterday myself. But i would like to know what level you playin when finding that bug. Easy,Normal or Hard? Would help me narrow my search for a bug.

3)Once you add a bottle to start alcohol, you cannot remove it until the 7th day...but you can "add more bottles to ferment" on any day. so you can only take from the barrel on the 7th day but you can add to the barrel any day. This means once you remove a bottle of say weak wine, you cannot add weak wine to ferment it further, you have completed its process of fermenting when you remove it. So your stuck with the weak wine which you could remove from the barrel on the 7th day...or leave it in to 14th day to make it a stronger grade.

4) nice find...will check into it and fix. (added to my todo list.)

5)It can be placed as a bridge to another smaller island if you happen to find one on your current map. It can be turned sideways along the shore as a boardwalk type thing.

Fish respawn from certain rocks, so once you find areas that "re-populate/spawn" fish after you fish them, building a dock there can provide more fish result as you move out into the ocean on the dock...this is because if you fish from the shore your "radius" includes the land behind you...but out on the dock the radius is covering water behind you and the water ahead of you , you could not reach from the shore...thus your catch should be increased, but again everything is random to provide a realistic experience.

Also, from a sailraft you can still possibly take damage from parana fish on hard mode. At night you might not have the light to see when sailing and get lost at sea for some time before you locate the Island again...could be deadly if your life bar was low or your hunger was high, or you somehow break your leg or get bitten by a shark.

As the flower seeds provide no benefit but to beautify your camp or create flower gardens, the dock adds that uniqueness too, while maybe helping to build your confidence by making your environment more, ...ummm enjoyable? or testimony to your doing "well" your going to survive. "Keep hope alive! My sister!".

this mod is outstanding compared to the original stranded
and the old massive mod i would give it a 100 out of 90
but i could suggest some improvements but it is your decision if to implement them
they are :

1 moving sky , moon & sun
2 the old stranded's ground color light green not dark
3 more animals and snakes
4 random island spawning on travelling seas
5 more sea animals
6 dry leafs falling from trees
7 pirate ship if possible (230 log 1090 nails etc)

that's all but it is your call to implement them , if u think them as stupid then take it as a joke and a future possibility (stranded 3)

and by the way i felt the game a little slower but i know it is because of the tons of files the system has to read naaa i can live with that .

but if u think that i have very stupid ideas , forgive me because whenever i play stranded i feel that there should be more to it

I noticed when I hit it, I saw the splash in the water, but the whale would move in a different direction--react in some way when it was hit. It never reacted with the harpoon or spears though.

As for the tool bug, I just found another, again I don't remember what tool. Should have wrote it down, but it was a steel tool, and it didn't drop a short handle or a long one when it broke. I could have been mistaken about the long handle drop before and it could have been no handle at all, but I still seem to remember an incorrect drop.

And one more bug, I seem to have lost a bucket when adding fertilizer to grains. Only happened once though and never again after that.

Finally a minor annoyance with the forge. It seems difficult to find a spot to stand where I can access the fuel, even with no ore on it, and targeting ores with coal dust is tricky.

Thanks again and can't wait for the end game events I remember on Vanilla S2 building a sailcraft and sailing endlessly on hoping to escape, or find something interesting.

Try hitting the roof over the forge to destroy it. The forge will still work and stay lit in the rain. This can help access the forge and reach the coal easier.

I have also used my shovel in the past to lower the ground "near" the forge where I can stand in the hole and access the forge better. Just dont dig exactly under the forge or when you reload the game the forge will be sunk in the hole...the opposite is also true, "raise" the land under the forge and when saving and reloading the forge will level itself on the hill you raised. It not in my control to change that aspect of the game really.

1.Standing on a logboat / sailcraft causes u to sink every few second, making fishing on the boat impossible if shark / pirahnas are below as u will sink into the water.

2. Prospecting does not take up any energy. (Is it meant to be this way?)

3. Lava in the mine is registered as saltwater, able to drink it and stand on it with no damg dealt.

4. Pirate trade - Prices are too generic.
Gold Ring/Gold Crystal Ring/Gold Pearl Ring = 20gold coins each

Golden Necklace - 4 gold nuggets - 50gold coins

Gold ring just require knife + gold nuggetmaking it far more profitable than any other trade.


Suggestion~ (Hard Mode)

1. Raiding (from day 100 onward?)- Perhaps we could make use of the idea of pirate ship and multiple island in the ocean suggested. It would make the game more challenging. For e.g. A sudden surge of hostile pirates that make hunting impossible and might occasionally attack the base.

2. Show condition of objects with different models. For e.g. stone/ores might start to get cracks on them as they grow weaker.

3. Implement Wilson in this mod too! I had always been a fan to the movie cast away!

4. Unable to extinguish fire on the forge by repeatedly hitting. Have to take out charcoal everytime n wait for it to burn out (i dont see others having this problem though perhaps its becuz im not doing it correctly?)

5. Sheep breeding: As mentioned by biomimicry, sheeps do not breed in an confined area. However more sheeps seems to have appear throughout the island instead but not in the confined area.

Hope this helps Meanwhile i will continue playing to improve it further. Looking forward to stranded III! N just wanna thank you for developing this awesome game JasJack67. Glad to contribute in anyway i can.

This reminds me of a bug I found. I can't put empty buckets in storage. If I want to put them down and not lose them I have to drop them somewhere.
