I downloaded the "november 10 2012"...

I don't know how the forge and the lava forge works...

the diary explains a bit about the Forge.

Basically you build it over a hollowed stone and then you have to put fuel in it and light it to start forging. Charcoal can be used as fuel.

once you have the fire going, put the Iron nugets in your hand and right click to place them on the forge. Wait a few minutes for the iron to turn pink, indicating it is "soft".

Remove the "soft" iron and in your rucksack combine the "soft" iron and your Hammer to view a list of things you can make. When you have chosen what to make, it will show a nugget on the anvil. HIT THE NUGGET WITH YOUR HAMMER to make the item.

If you make Iron bars you will have to also combine iron bar and Hammer to make things from them too. The iron bar will be on the anvil and HIT IT.

I love the achievement and Adventure portal and such and the single island map is also good too! I just wanted to say YOU ROCKS KEEP ON WORKING ON THIS MOD WE WANTED TO SEE THE MOD FULL PROTENTIAL!

no problem Firefly...once you download it, your free to alter the files as you please...nothing anyone can do about it really.

It is really only important to give credit where credit is due...and then there should be no issues. Unreal Software gave us S2 and said "here, have fun with it!"...and it should be just the same with all mods derived from it.

I'm looking for more ideas to add while I try to figure out what I need for the explorers. I'm looking for ways to make this more automated and maybe start a village somehow. My current idea is to make a monkey forge linked to the mine that produces 1-2 soft iron per day and makes iron products randomly if there is enough iron in it. That should be fairly easy but I will need a plan for once I finish that. My other idea relates to the village thing and is a lighthouse to attract villagers. That would be a much bigger project and I have absolutely no skill in modeling so I would need someone to make one for me. I may approach Lion_Hearted for the lighthouse model. Does anyone have other ideas that I could add in to that effect?

love the ideas...I'm not to keen on having automation though...i really like the "making a village over time" idea. The lantern you find in this game is my first and only good model, I dont know if I could make a lighthouse model. One thing I have thought of though was to be able to "tame" natives like you do a monkey, maybe by throwing them some kind of resource like food...then they would be friendly and perform some sort of "role" like the monkey when you "tame" it.

Like they would become "tame" and then if you build a hut they stay around the hut and you supply them food in trade for something else....OR SOMETHING!

over time you would have some villagers around the island doing different things...maybe if you don't feed them they will hunt you idk lol.

While im here I'll post a image of my latest model added to the game. A Tepee...building providing cover. As you can see in the pics it is very spacious inside compared to all the other buildings...but it is also the largest building in the game, as far as being able to "build inside". The Oil Lantern took me 7 days to design and model...the Tepee took me 3. I may spend some time adding some more unique things in the game as I am learning to model quicker then i thought.

In line with my plan to make villages possible, I made the tepee produce natives and chieftains that you can trade with, although I will leave the difficult tack of balancing the trading menu up to jasjack.

I didn't modify as many files as last time so I will just post the code here if you want to put it in.

nice one! i like the idea. I will try to work that script into a trading aspect on the islands. maybe taming natives by giving them something or limiting the spawn rate, to some reasonable rate. Hmm ...im not sure, but having them spawn tamed already is pretty cool too considering they are "attached" to the tepee as a spawn object.

I modeled my tepee after a photo I found that looked reasonably real. You can however adjust the size of the tepee in your game file. (but yes agreed, tepee come in all sizes)

scroll to the folder:

Scroll to the Tepee Tent script:

and change the SCALE=0.8 to a lower number like SCALE=0.7 and then click FILE and SAVE.

your tepee will be smaller...here is the photo if interested though, notice the size of the tepee to the size of the people. I just made the vent at the top large so I did away with the vent flap in the photo.




note:
The Tepee Tent does not unlock until you build a HUT or BIG STORAGE. To make 25 "skin kills" takes a while in the game. You also get back the 8 woodhandles, 8 bendablebranches, and 25 skins, when you tear it down to move it...no 25 chord though, as you have to cut the chord up to take it apart.

thank you all for your feedback and ideas...it is most important when I work on this mod. Your help has brought this game pretty far in a short time...but my time is free and limited. I will continue to do what I can as this time allows. "thank you"

I often build palisade around it and a gate to the entrance and a sign says "The Workshop" But every time I involve writing any word that have the letter "O" it always says "0" or "0.0" like that I don't know why too but I think it's a bug.

Well first i would like to say well done on the mod, just beat it for the first time after 9 goes (damn Scorpions), and i just wanted to share a few things i have noted while playing.

Bugs:

Clay cooking pot lets you go into negative servings. Inf food/drink

Mine removes everything over 40.000 when entering and exiting it. Had a full 150K bag, left mine, had hammer and 39k worth of stones. same problem both ways.

Yes we have no Bananas, there was no banana tree on my island that i could find. i checked every tree and did not cut it down as i only cut the Oak looking ones down.

Could not make a Pickaxe, made iron and steel; Axe, spade, hammer, nails and hooks but there was no pick axe head to make

Went all over the island and no gold or coal nodes could i find with spade. i only got coal after getting mining 200.

I could not convince my wheat seeds to plant, kept telling me to put in hand when there are in my hand.

Questions:

Does the gold have a use yet?

Is the auto fish trap ment to be useless?

Suggestions:

Make digging eather less knackering or give a little more stuff per dig as i could only dig 8-12 times befor i had to sleep.

could you make the upgraded hammer work as the stone hammer for combining so i dont have to carry 2 hammers. same with building the pillers in the mine had to go get stone hammer to build thats when i noticed the stuff missing from my pack on zoning.

There are some others but i can't remember right at this moment, i should take notes..

Just want to say Loved this mod and hope you continue the good work
