im trying my best to make first of all random maps more dense, but now i need to work out how to raise the worlds sand texture to cover a few meters of the ground.

or is this impossible, that sand can only spawn underwater?
due to restrictions?

EDIT: is it also possible to change the color scheme in random maps?

in the game.inf file there are these lines:
Code:
1
2
3
4
terrain_color_normal=230,223,145, 69,138,13, 160,172,125
terrain_color_desert=230,223,145, 254,243,118, 245,204,61
terrain_color_snow=200,224,230, 255,255,255, 100,100,100
terrain_color_sawmp=159,206,0, 135,174,0, 70,104,72

try to tweak the values until you get the wanted effect.

@user Hurri04:

thanks a load, i thought i remembered seeing lines like that, but i couldnt find them.

so the 3 bunches of numbers separated by spaces on each line are counted by the different terrain colors correct?

if I remember correctly then those are 3 sets of RGB values which are set to fixed heights. unfortunately this isnt well documented.
but you probably only need to touch those values if you want to change the default color progression, now that I think about it.

maybe you could generate the map, use s2 cmd terraintexture to paint it and then use s2 cmd terrainy and s2 cmd terrain to move the entire terrain upwards a bit to have larger beaches.

the problem with that would be that you'd have to use s2 cmd event to start a s2 cmd loop which runs s2 cmd mapsize times (y direction) and calls the event again for s2 cmd mapsize times (x direction) which will probably lag the game for half a minute.

I guess S2 isnt really built for this...

-unfortunately.... but stranded 3 will be built better to have better terrain features, whch im happy for..

EDIT: oh bugger, you said in the game.INF i was hoping it was in the random map inf

the s2 cmd terraintexture command can still use the definitions from the game.inf.

(just use google translate on the page)

another question: do you know if theres anyway to edit/copy terrain generation without any 3rd party tools?

and make changes to both terrain makeup, and texture?

nope, I'm pretty sure there is no way to script the terrain generation to use it for random maps. S2 just wasnt constructed with that in mind.
