Following the extraordinary high ratings, of which nobody was able to defend the existence except saying “Really goood I ned 20 hcars her!”, I decided to write a little story about what would happen if society would work the way some people here appear to think it does. Note that the spelling and grammar have been digitally enhanced to increase readability.

A day in the life of... the Unreal Software user.

As each morning, I got up this morning to take a shower and have cookie cookies for all-breakfast. After that, I went to yet another boring school day, which I could have done in five minutes, but it's good and I'm a nice person so I'll rate ∗∗∗∗∗ anyway without giving any proper reasons.

I had a test today! It was quite a hard one – the person sitting next to me had such a bad handwriting×! It was sooo hard to copy! When handing it in, I told my teacher that I copied it and that he just shouldn't check it if he didn't like it, and otherwise give me an A. After that, the dean came in to tell us about our possibilities for studying. It's quite a hard choice: should I go to Cambridge? Or maybe Harvard? No – let's go to the MIT! There's so much to choose from when you only get perfect marks at school. And since everybody is rated perfectly, it has become sooo unoriginal to go to Harvard... But who cares about originality anyways?

When school was finally over, I went to look for a new car with my dad. All the cars in there were AWESOME!. Well except one of them, that was just a bad recolour without shadows. Oh and then there was that bad resize without pictures as well. The seller told us that those cars were the very safest in the world and drove extremely economic, but I didn't listen since they sucked anywas. The problem was that all the other cars were rated 5/5, so we couldn't make a decision.

Back at home, I decided to paint Mona Lisas and Rembrandts. I've been making quite a living with that, since nobody cares about copyright anyways and everybody finds my painting skills awesome. But some others have copied my idea so business is a bit low lately.

Being bored of that as well I decided to spam around at Unreal Software for a little to irritate DC. Oh I love it to see him getting pissed off by my crappy English and stupid questions. And when he gets sick of it and bans me, why don't I simply create a new account from my school pc and hack unrealsoftware.de?!


NOTE: THIS ISN'T MEANT TO OFFEND ALL THE 'NORMAL' UNREAL SOFTWARE USERS!!!

Yeah it seems you are right at most of those points but i think those unrealsoftware users are most of them kids with a age of ... well i dont know but.

My english isn't bad, I dont spam ( well, not intentionally ) and i haven't gone to school for about 5 years. So I am definatly not the average UnrealSoftware.de user.

But the way you looked at it is wrong. You are thinking of the average 10-14 year old user who has nothing else to do with his/her ( most likely his ) life but spam and flame.

But I do see your point, you have put together a very humourous little story about how these 'juvinal delinquents' come to UnrealSoftware.de and cause a lot of unneccisary havoc ( some of it is funny [ *cough*Ultr4Killer*cough*], you have to admit that! ).

But When DC said that he both hated and loved US.de I saw how pissed he was at all of the idiotic things that go on around here ( dare i mention the "cookie or potato" debate which still roams signatures today ) on a daily basis. I think it is people like Ultr4Killer or Shanghaimi -Chet- Chen who flame/flamed people for absolutely no reason who ruin US. I think the fact that this place is the home of an indie freeware game developer that attracts young uns' who can find nothing else to do but flame and spam on this otherwise un-spoilt site.

But when you get past the rage and you look at users who bring so much into the forum and earn a really good reputation for their work.

If there is one exception from the "11-14 = spamer/flamer" rule is Vectar666, he is an excellently mature individual. So it just goes to show that stereotyping people doesn't make sense.

When I first visited the Unreal Software forums one and a half year ago, I had just become 14 years old (which would mean I belonged to that group of people). I knew practically nothing about the world around online gaming and computers (I think all I knew was that it had a power button, a keyboard, a mouse and a screen. Hell I didn't even know what Linux was :S). Back in those days, DC was still a relatively happy person and the average US visitor was smart.

In those 1.5 years, I've learnt an awful lot about computers and stuff, I learned some coding and a huge lot about others' behaviour. It has also been quite useful for my English and debating skills.

Yet the task of returning the brains to www.unrealsoftware.de seems to have become quite impossible. Of course, there still are smart people around here (DC and his team of moderators (especially Lee, but the rest as well), Jermuk with his C server, Blazzingxx (GrandMyth now) with his shadows and lights, most of the people visiting the Stranded(2) forums if I'm not mistaken and quite a lot others), but most of the other people here are simply sad. The I accidently deleted cs2d thread really did it for me.

My intention certainly wasn't to insult certain people within a user group by stereotyping, and if I have hurt the feelings of people that don't act like that I do apologize for that.

You should have seen ~2006. It was really nice, like there weren't as many spam/flame/stupid threads as now, you could even post as a guest and oh well... good old days. I'm a very nostalgic person.

You're right!
For me, the 4 year experience with UnrealSoftware meant a lot. I've learnt how to behave, how to cope with a group of people. At first I wasn't posting "smart" things (well maybe i've even posted idiotic stuff), but because of DC/moderators/other users that told me that what I was doing was wrong, I've learnt the "skill" of posting: how to stay on topic and to contribute to the thread, as a result helping/sustaining the thread creator. I cannot say that I am a contributor (I did not created maps, skins, mods, scripts or other stuff) but I enjoy being a part of the community and at least once per day I skim through the forums.

.. mature unrealsoftware users eh

and me and silent control did much of a spaming back then , i still wonder why DC didn't banned me as i was both underage and i posted random bullcrap.

Well, this shows that DC is a very tolerant person, skiper (lenz), who gives a second chance.

My day here is well:
I get up at 4 am, since I don't sleep until 3 am. I get dressed and go to school. I hang out with my acquaintances, cuz I have no actual friends at school. when the bell rings, I go to my classes. And act as the dumb guy who says the most random-est things, and yet is the nerdy man of the class. Anyways, after school, I hang out with more acquaintances. When I get home, I go onto Unreal Software, check out some forums, reply on some, and then I log off. I draw my manga and do any homework. Then I go do some SII modding, and then I go to sleep.
That's my day.

You should wait until Unreal Software becomes a bigger website, him setting up Advertisements and them showing up on RuneScape or Newgrounds. Wait and see, an inevitable path of 8-14 users is coming our way. To my understanding, their is no way you cannot escape this fate, bro.

The only way we can get other users to act more mature is to be mature ourselves. If someone acts like a child, spank them like a parent should. But this is metaphorical. You have to use your wit, your flourish and inspiration of the language, ability to research and your worldly experience to point out how childish they've been, correct them, and then continue on, knowing you've been an example.

Banaan's post, to me, is a fine example of a mature mind using satire and irony to express a personal opinion of his and has done so in an educated and understanding way.

This in itself epitimises my ideology, so "Nice one, banaan. It tickled me..."

As for DC, well, he knows the level of respect I have for him and if he doesn't, let the time and effort I have spent on Stranded II Mod Viewer speak for itself. I made it out of the inspiration I took from DC and without his game, I am well aware that it would be useless, and of course, non-existant... The guy laid the ground, now we have to tend to the fields...

Nevermind.

Anyway, from what I've seen, DC is really patient, except when he sees noobs post ideas for games they want him to make. He HAS said that he has ideas for years of game-making around 5 thousand times.
