You can use your VPS like that, if you find a service of that type and you don't mind creating a new account every month or so.

But usually you'd have to pay for it.
You can easily find cheap VPSs for about 2 dollars if you look well enough, and that'll get you a lot more than riding off random VPS trials online.

P.S.: What kind of server are you trying to host?
